Christmas Gift Guide – Mindful Presents

At its best, Christmas is a time filled with fairy lights and magic, cosy fires and delicious food, country walks and the people we love most. The end of the year is also an ideal time to slow down, draw inwards and reflect on the months that have passed. It’s an opportunity to set goals and sketch out plans for the new year.

In reality, December is often incredibly busy and filled with plenty of stress. Schedules grow crowded, there are presents to buy and family gatherings all over the country to contend with. It’s easy to neglect self-care and forget everything we know about living mindfully. If you don’t prioritise your wellbeing, Christmas can quickly take its toll.

With this in mind, we’ve curated a Christmas gift guide filled with mindful presents. Whether you’re shopping for a loved one or planning to treat yourself, each item has been selected to complement the six wellbeing elements included in our online retreats.

A yoga mat from ecoYoga is an ideal Christmas gift for anyone hoping to enhance their practice. Kind to your body and the environment, they’re made from sustainable, plant-based materials here in the UK. The 100% rubber compound is also completely biodegradable.

It wouldn’t be Christmas without a little indulgence! Booja Booja chocolate truffles have simple, organic ingredients and are gluten, soya and dairy free. The SOL team found it quite challenging not to eat them all before capturing these photos – they’re truly delicious! This inspiring company has been creating sweet treats since 1999 and they support charities all over the world.

Karma Tea from Canton Tea Co is a unique blend of herbal ingredients based on the traditional Ayurvedic system of Indian medicine. A mix of ginger, fennel seeds, whole cardamom pods, liquorice root, rose petals and vanilla creates a naturally caffeine-free tea that soothes and uplifts.

Soft, cosy blankets are the ideal accompaniment to regular meditation. Our favourite online boutique, The Future Kept, carries an incredible range of beautifully crafted, ethically sourced wool blankets. Founders Jeska and Dean carefully source their entire collection from independent designers, makers and artisans. Meant to be cherished and have a positive impact on the environment, everything is made to last and will not fuel the throwaway nature of the modern world.

We can also recommend Noctu and their organic alpaca socks. The material’s excellent insulating properties will keep your toes snug and warm while you meditate.

The warm glow and delicate fragrance of scented candles creates the perfect atmosphere for mindful breathing. We love Essence + Alchemy and their collection of earth-friendly, small-batch botanical scented goods. Handcrafted in a garden laboratory in Sheffield, everything that goes into an E+A product is simple and natural. There are no synthetic fragrances or nasty additives, just a pure plant base and essential oils for scent.

Idan Oil from Liha Beauty is a sublime multi-purpose moisturising oil. Made with natural, cold pressed coconut oil into which a Tuberose flower has been immersed, it can be used for everything from facial oil to leave-in hair conditioner. If we’re feeling particularly indulgent, we like to slather it on before bed and rinse off in the morning to reveal silky soft, delicately fragranced skin.

Investing in luxurious organic bed linen will have a huge positive impact on your quality of sleep. The eco linen duvet cover and pillow sets from Noctu are made from soft 100 % French flax linen. Inherently ecological, flax is a natural fibre grown without the need for much water, energy or any chemicals. Kind to the skin, it doesn’t provoke allergies, absorbs humidity and allows the skin to breathe. This linen will keep you cool in summer and cosy and warm in winter. Better still, the more it’s washed, the softer it becomes.
